During a bad fire year a number of years ago, the National Forest lands that surround my home in Montana were closed to reduce the risk of human caused fires. No access, not even for an afternoon stroll. I was dumbfounded. My refuge, my church, my place of renewal was suddenly off-limits. I understood then how connected I am to the western landscape; it - and the critters who live in it - feed my soul. My photographs and paintings are my attempt to capture, in a small way, what that land means to me.
